I have always had an affinity for the arts.   As a child I can remember visiting the Minneapolis Institute of Arts and being fascinated by the collections it housed. When I went away to college I elected to study the arts and humanities and dreamed of an internship in Paris at the Louvre.   Instead, I ended up with a major in business and entered the hospitality industry right out of college.   However, my passion for all types of art, but primarily the visual arts continued to fester far beneath the surface.   I quelled this desire by indulging in the periodic day at the museum, wandering through galleries, taking in an occasional theatrical experience or by just crafting myself into a frenzy during the holidays.

For the next twenty odd years, I worked in advertising, marketing and sales for the publishing industry and in hospitality.   I was one of the early adopters of the internet and worked in website development, internet advertising and search engine marketing.

It wasn’t until a couple of years ago when my closest friend reunited with a former high school classmate that my strong desire to work in the art industry came bubbling to the surface.   My good friend Kristie Grigg introduced me to the art of Scott L. Christensen, a former teacher and football player turned master landscape painter.   She had recently agreed to work with him and wanted to show me his paintings that were on exhibit in Jackson, WY.   I was awestruck by the beauty of the landscapes he captured, the interpretation of light, his use of edges and the looseness which recalled the great impressionist painters.   I immediately began begging for a job.   Almost two years later my dream was fulfilled when Christensen hired me to be his Workshop Director.

Now, I live my dream every day, helping artists to become successful. I launched Primary Colors Consulting in September of 2009 with the hope that I would be able to work with a variety of artists across different mediums.  I named the business for Christensen whose strict adherence to the fundamentals of painting I feel can be applied to marketing your art effectively.   I believe it is through the planning and implementation of basic business strategies that you can achieve success.   It is my goal to help artists succeed by streamlining their business responsibilities, allowing more time to for them to create.
