Jill Soukup "Equine and Architecture" A Solo Exhibition, March 25 - May 22, 2011 Longmont Museum and Cultural Center 400 Quail Rd., Longmont, CO In her life and her art, Jill Soukup achieves balance through contrast. Much of her work is focused on what, at first glance, would seem to be dichotomies—angular city scenes juxtapose organic images of horses moving and grazing. Yet, through her work, Jill has discovered more similarities in these subjects than differences. Her art reveals the mechanical polarities of painting and the interplay she sees between soft and hard edges, bright and muted hues, and the interplay of structural function and organic form. This exhibit is a parallel exploration of the industrial and the equine—and an invitation to examine seemingly opposing elements through the lens of art.  Cool Down Cornered Perspective |
