George Bumann - Naturalist, Sculptor and Painter

George Bumann (pronounced Bu-min) was raised in the world of sculpture amid his mother’s upstate New York studio. He has melded this fortunate upbringing with his formal education (both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees) in wildlife ecology. Bumann has worked in the fields of environmental consulting, illustration, taxidermy and has taught natural history and art programs for youth, adult, and university audiences since 1990. He sculpts professionally and teaches programs in and around his home adjacent to Yellowstone National Park.

Bumann is a member of the Society of Animal Artists and his work has been exhibited at the Annual Coors Art Exhibit & Sale, Denver, Colorado, the Charles M. Russell Auction in Great Falls, Montana and also served as artist-in-residence at the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson, WY. His sculptures reside in collections throughout the United States and Europe and in the permanent collection of the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson Hole, WY. He lives with his wife Jenny and two black Labradors, Jasper & Casey, in Gardiner, Montana.
