D. Eleinne Basa

Continuing to strive for excellence in art has always been Eleinne's goal. She believes painting is a constant learning process, every painting a new set of experiences and discoveries. She tries to immerse herself in great art by constantly soaking in those on display at museums and galleries. Paintings by the likes of Zorn, Sergeant, and Cassatt continue to inspire and motivate her to reach for a certain quality in her paintings.

Eleinne credits much of her knowledge to the classical training she had while growing up in Manila. When she was only seven years old, her parents enrolled her at the Children's Museum and Library where she studied for eight years. Drawing and painting exclusively from life , It was here that she learned the fundamentals of light and shadow, value scales and colors, and also, the use of different media, from charcoal to oils, which she started to do at the early age of nine. She even remembers painting "en plein air."

"The school was situated in the middle of a park and our teacher would always tell us to sit at the park picnic tables with our sketch pads and canvases. Some days we would go on painting field-trips and paint in oils."

In 1994, after migrating with her family to New Jersey, Eleinne joined local art organizations and started including her work in several juried shows. In 2002, she won a Grumbacher Gold Medallion at the Hudson Artists of New Jersey Regional Exhibit. In 2004 and 2005, she was included in juried shows of the American Artists Professional League exhibitions. In 2006 She was juried into the Easton Plein Air National Art Competition where she won two honorable mention awards. In 2007, she has been juried to participate in the important Salon International exhibition by the International Museum of Contemporary Masters held at the Greenhouse Gallery of Art in San Antonio,Texas.

D.Eleinne Basa lives in Jackson New Jersey with her husband and two children. She is currently represented by The Highlands Art Gallery in Chester, NJ, and Germanton Gallery in Germanton , NC.

"It is when painting outdoors that brings me back to those childhood days when painting was pure and comes from some place deep within."
